Intuitive Health: Embracing Individual Wellness Strategies

We are often inundated with information, some conflicting views as well, regarding health and wellness. What foods are being investigated for toxicity, what vitamins are helpful or poorly sourced, marketed pharmaceuticals that scream out risks filling our commercials. Do you ever wonder how to navigate all this research, information and product evaluation? Could it be that at the root of it all, what is right for one body may be harming or unhelpful to another?

It wasn’t until my child became afflicted with a chronic illness that these questions presented themselves to me on a daily basis. When you become intimately aware of the sensitivities within the human body, the delicate nuances of an individualized healing journey are a daily quest. Becoming attuned to myself and my child were imperative. I have learned to access intuition and mindful presence in order to progress forward. I have learned to listen carefully to both my cues as a mother as well as my child’s cues. What works, what is needed changes frequently. If we can access this wisdom regularly, we can establish ourselves on a path that gently guides what is right and needed in that moment for the body.

This is where mind body connection fits in. I suppose the key to exercising this part of ourselves is the act of mindful attention. Taking the time often to slow down, reflect and breathe. Through breathwork, movement, mindfulness practice and self compassion, we can more clearly notice that intuitive sense and then take action from that place. We can carefully choose which thoughts, opinions, research to listen to and actually utilize. The trust in our minds and body, then, becomes the guide as opposed to the volume of information surrounding us, outside of us. If only we listen
